Drawing an inspiration from the work of Springfield native, prolific architectural photographer Berenice Abbott, we announce a call for photo-based work that speaks to URBAN SPACES: “the elegances, the squalor, the curiosities, the monuments, the sad faces, the triumphant faces, the power, the irony, the strength, the decay, the past, the present, the future of a city.” (Berenice Abbott, 1940)

Requirements:
To submit your work, please follow the link above. Submit one (1) to three (3) high-resolution photographs for consideration. Additional entries will not be considered.
We only accept submissions of digital files with .jpg extension via our website. The maximum file size for each image submitted is 5MB. We recommend a minimum image size of 1600 pixels in width, with its proportional height.
The Westcott House Foundation’s House of Photography contest ends October 10th, 2014, at 12:00am Eastern Standard Time (EST). By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the rules of the contest and states that they are 18 years old or older.
By entering the contest, artists grant The Westcott House Foundation a permission to use the image of their work for any educational and/or promotional purposes. Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit.
You will receive notification by October 15th. If accepted, your work must be received at the Westcott House, 85 South Greenmount, Springfield, OH 45505 by 5pm EST on November 1st, framed and ready to hang. The Westcott House Foundation takes no liability for damages that may be incurred during the exhibition process.
A jury panel comprised of photographers and museum professionals will conduct a blind jury process, where jurors review the artists’ work without knowing the artists’ names. The top scores will be invited to participate in the “House of Photography” exhibition at the Westcott House November 7th - 30th, 2014. Decisions of the judges will be final.

The grand-prize winner in professional category and amateur category will receive a complimentary membership to the Westcott House and an assortment of books and gifts from the Westcott House museum store.
The Westcott House Foundation will take a 30% commission of the retail price of the work if sold.
