About the program: A unique opportunity for students to work with artists and design professionals to build an art portfolio inspired by the Frank Lloyd Wright’s Westcott House. Students will engage in a series of hands-on exercises focusing on photography, videography, computer-based editing with special emphasis on creative problem solving. Program activities include individual and collaborative projects, as well as working sessions at the Westcott House, Solar House, and State Theater. Students will have an opportunity to showcase the art that results from this experience at a newly renovated State Theater on Friday, June 28th at 6pm.

Our lead instructor is Scott James. A Seattle-based artist, James designs and implements visual installations; mixes live video; develops custom video mixing software and integrates digital media technology. His experience includes a master’s degree in landscape architecture, graduate level teaching in landscape design and multimedia, work experience in multimedia design and project management. In collaboration with the Westcott staff, Scott created Multimedia Design Studio in 2007. It has been one of our hallmark programs ever since.

Our partner: State Theater Productions is a group of lifelong Springfield residents, entrepreneurs, and artists, who are working toward breathing new life and creative energy into the historic State Theater located downtown Springfield.

This program is supported by the Ohio Arts Council's Arts Partnership Grant.
